CRKT the Natural Pocket Knife Review – Is it worth the hype?

I love buying knives that look a lot more expensive than they actually are. Although ultimately not as rewarding as buying a custom or high-end knife, it definitely leaves more money in the bank. The CRKT Natural knife is here. This new series of folding knives designed by Pat and Wes Crawford is sure to give you a lot for your investment. In this review, I will share my thoughts on the Natural pocket knife model number 7080J.

What I like about the knife:

1. The CRKT Natural really has the feel of a high-end custom knife. One of my favorite aspects of this particular design is the “jeweled” stainless steel gussets and the pocket clip. This is a technique that you don’t see very often in modern production folding knives, and I think it looks pretty cool.

2. The Natural fits incredibly well in your hand. I find that many times when you buy a knife that is aesthetically pleasing, good ergonomics is sacrificed somewhere along the way. This is not the case with CRKT Natural. The very comfortable fit in the hand and the well-made thumb slots or jumps make it a crowd pleaser.

3. Very useful leaf shape. The CRKT Natural has a nice sweeping clip-tip style blade that cuts like a machine. The knife comes razor sharp out of the box, but I ran it through the leather scourer a few times just in case and it easily takes a shaving edge.

4. In addition to the qualities of Natural’s custom knives, you will find the file work well done on the spine. Although not as accurate and detailed as an actual custom part, it’s hard to complain at an MSRP of 89.99

What I didn’t care about:

1. The CRKT Natural is not a lightweight knife. I don’t mind carrying a bit of weight when it comes to a pocket knife, but the Natural weighs around 6.5 ounces, if not a little more. The stainless steel handle, locking mechanism, and gussets make this pocket knife extremely durable yet slightly heavy.

2. This knife is spring assisted. What is wrong with that? I appreciate spring loaded knives as much as the next person, but the action was a bit stiff out of the box. However, this can loosen and will likely loosen with use.

Usually:

Most knife collectors will be happy to add CRKT Natural to their collection. The rock solid construction, nice appearance, and affordable price make this a very nice knife.
