Important lessons learned during COVID-19

Introduction

With all the pressures people are facing due to the pandemic, most people may wonder if any good has come of this. Actually, the answer is yes. As a society, we are learning many important lessons from the different changes due to the pandemic. What exactly are they and how will they prove useful in the coming days? That’s what this blog is about.

Work remotely vs. on-site

What does this mean? With pressure on businesses to close, those who own or run office-based businesses are learning how to outsource the same tasks to employees who now work from home. Instead of stopping, everyone has adapted to doing the same work remotely. Bosses are finding that they can keep their businesses very well that way.

Learning not to need office space

Although this might not be so great for commercial property owners, businesses are finding that they can operate just as well with everyone working from home. As a result, more of them are exchanging their office space for virtual space. This can save astronomical amounts of money that used to be spent on rent. Employees save on gasoline, costs and inconvenience of transportation and wardrobe maintenance. Everyone is winning with the new virtual office concept.

What about restaurants, bars, lounges, auto repair shops, etc.?

Naturally, they do not have the luxury of being able to operate virtually. So what has the pandemic done to them? They are forced to learn to adapt to a world where fewer people have to sit and everyone wears masks. These businesses are learning to get by with fewer staff, outdoor accommodations, and more takeout and delivery services.

For salon owners and workers, they might as well implement the concept of traveling to their clients. The stylist or nail care professional can visit the homes of their clients. In this way, they are dealing one-on-one with a client in front of a packed brick-and-mortar room. They may wear face masks and protective gear during their stay. Vehicle repair shops can also do this and remain outdoors, keeping a safe distance from customers.

education from home

What does this mean? Well, with schools and universities closing in many places, parents and students have been forced to continue their studies remotely. Like office workers, they find in this a suitable alternative. If the pandemic continues and everyone continues to learn from home, they may soon find that there is little need to spend money on school, wardrobe and accommodation. What does the future hold for physical schools and universities? That remains to be seen!

We have learned to find entertainment at home

Although perhaps not by choice, we have learned to find entertainment for ourselves at home. It could be playing games or doing family activities or spending more time on the computer. It may be as a result of implementing movie night in our home or watching concerts on your big screen TV. There are so many ways to create fun without going out on the town. Think about how much money you are saving. How good is that?
