In the age of AI, our human workforce must remain relevant

As artificial intelligence (AI) technologies develop, how can we ensure that the well-being of human value and human experience remains meaningful? AI is getting faster and more humane, but questions are being raised as to whether or not this technology is a prerequisite for the alienation and extinction of robust human workforces. Can knowledge like the rise of quantum computing go wrong? By all accounts, artificial intelligence, whether we like it or not, is here for the long haul.

With the proliferation of AI technology comes the fear of what will become of the human workforce as we know it. We must find common ground to merge the two without separating our human workforce. In addition to companies expecting their revenues to increase and their costs to decrease significantly, there are also ethical concerns related to the application of artificial intelligence. Here are some considerations organizations should keep in mind:

  • Organizations must retrain or redeploy employees by investing in developing their skill sets. Can AI technologies equip and build robots so much that they mimic human cognition? Human issues must remain at the forefront of an organization’s AI applications.
  • Most consumers like human interaction, but the customer usually doesn’t care if they are interacting with a bot or a real person, as long as their customer experience is satisfying and stimulates humanization. We witness such interactions through the use of digital assistants. Will technology and superhuman machines be able to figure out and optimize ergonomics (human factors) and influencing factors to produce a satisfying customer experience?

Creative teams are starting to add an element of entertainment to make the shopping experience fun. Artificial Intelligence is ushering in a new era of technology. Business leaders must invest in people to instill a workplace culture that encourages the learning of new skills to reduce the appearance of discrimination against certain cultural segments of our population.
