Instagram: 6 reasons why you do my day to day

Instagram is at the top of the list of daily pleasures for me. When I started using Instagram, I was looking for inspiration and motivation for cooking. 99.9% of my images are of foods that I have created. The reason for this is to show that preparing delicious and healthy meals does not need a chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America, nor does it require many fancy ingredients. I like to make my meals simple and tasty, hence the hashtags #KeepItSimple and #KeepItTasty. There is no reason to tarnish the flavor of your food ingredients with items that do not enhance the flavor of the dish or serve a purpose.

Along the way, Instagram took on a different role in my daily life. The inspiration and motivation were still there, but the inadvertent comedy rose to new levels. Before I talk about the images that are my favorites, let me tell you that I love to laugh and these images help take the stress out of life, even for a few moments. If you are on Instagram, I think you can agree with these photos because they make you laugh when you scroll through the images on your iPhone or iPad.

6 main reasons why I go to Instagram every day

The Artist At The Coffee Shop Pictures

We have all seen these photos. The one where the barista, do they only call them that at Starbucks ?, decided they were bored or a starving artist and turns your cappuccino into a canvas. You see heart shapes all the time, but I have never seen a face or an animal. These photos always make me laugh because I can imagine the person ordering their cappuccino hoping to taste the steamed milk and hot coffee and relieve stress and heart results. Who decides which barista takes the heart? Why does the person on Instagram decide that another heart-shaped milk photo is something to post? We understand. Coffee as art. Let’s go!

Quest Bar Pictures

I’m not sure when the Quest Bar became the face of healthy eating, but if you visit a health food, you will almost certainly find a picture of a Quest Bar. And it’s not enough to just be a search bar, it’s this product has been minced and put into cookies and cakes, broken and added to yogurt and so many other variations of its use that this post would be too long. I’ve never had a Quest Bar and probably never will, so I can’t comment on the taste. Why do Instagram photos make me laugh? They are everywhere and you can’t go a day without seeing a photo of them.

Starbucks

I mentioned the coffee barista artist photos above, but a day can’t go by without photos of Starbucks mugs. They can be just the outside of the cup, they can be the inside of the cup. I’ve even seen pictures of the inside of the Starbucks. I see them and think to myself: you bought a Starbucks coffee and somewhere between paying and drinking you decided you should photograph it, but did you try it first? Did you sit down to talk with your friends and stop the conversation to take the photo? I have a lot of thoughts floating in my head and I laugh because I am making a conversation that is probably not taking place, but in my mind it is and it is very funny.

Cup Cake

This is my third favorite photo on Instagram. I’m not sure why it makes me laugh when I see them, but they do. I guess inside I’m thinking: when you can’t bake, microwave. Maybe I secretly want to make a cup cake. I’m not sure, but I’m sure that when the images appear on Instagram I laugh at my guts. I can say that I have seen some wonderful cup cake creations like the molten chocolate cup cake. That’s amazing in my mind, but the old man I poured in 1 egg, protein powder and whatever and voila, I ‘baked’ a protein cup cake just makes me laugh.

Green smoothies

These just kill me. They’re on Instagram in droves and they make me laugh because my thinking is: Wow, you know how to use your blender. It’s a kitchen trick, of course, but how many images of green smoothies can a person see before thinking: great, now try cooking those vegetables in a different way or fashion. I know smoothies are quick and I make them too, but when I make them I don’t share them on Instagram because I did nothing but add water, vegetables, and fruits to my blender. I want my Instagram feed to be inspiring and motivating for people to go to the kitchen to cook, but with that said, if a green smoothie gets someone started on the road to health, then I totally agree. Let me be clear and say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with green smoothies or smoothies in general, it’s only when you see 20-50 photos of green smoothies per day, you just laugh.

Seflies before, during or after workouts

These are my all-time favorites. The flex pose image is the best, but today I am introducing you to my friend Marlene from Mission To A (another) Marathon because her selfies have me on the verge of hyperventilating. I love when she posts pictures of herself from the bathroom in her office after a sweaty walk or run and her face tells the whole story. My favorite picture of Marlene is in her swim goggles as she looks like those guys in Despicable Me and therefore my nickname for her is Despicable Marlene. Selfies are the gift that keeps giving because you know you will see dozens of them at any given moment and one is more fun than the other. Do you wait until the bathroom is clear to take the photo? Don’t you care if the bathroom is full of people?

These 6 reasons are the reasons why Instagram will always have a place in my daily routine. I don’t understand how you can’t laugh at some of the things you see on Instagram. There’s a ton of inspiration and motivation, like the 21 Day Sugar Detox I’ll be posting on Monday, but some of it is comical too. I really enjoy following people on my feed to come up with creative ideas for cooking, taking me to the gym, and making me laugh.
