Sony KDL-32EX403 review

The Sony KDL-32EX403 is a new 32-inch Bravia LCD television released in March 2010. It is part of Sony’s 2010 ‘essential’ range and has a Sony-set recommended retail price of £550, which means that It should be affordable for people looking to upgrade to a new HD TV.

The TV features Full HD at 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is ideal for watching sports, movies and playing fast-paced HD games on consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3.

The feature that interests me most about this TV (and indeed about the newer Sony ranges) would be the built-in Freeview HD tuner, which I think is fantastic for those users who don’t have Sky HD. It will give those users the opportunity to watch the TV in all its glory without the need for Blu-ray.

The TV also has wi-fi and USB capabilities, which means it’s easy to view your photos and videos on the TV, as well as play music (mp3 compatible). Input-wise, there are four HDMI inputs, two on the side and another two on the back, which should mean you can have all your HD sources connected at once.

The sound quality of the KDL-32EX403, as can be expected from a Sony product, is excellent. The speakers are hidden inside, but the angle at which they’re pointed gives you great sound quality, and the TV also offers digital surround sound for an almost cinematic effect.

So overall, we’ve found this TV to be a great introduction to HD TV. For the price we doubt you can get much better. Though if your budget allows, you might want to go for a higher-spec model such as the KDL-32EX503, and we’d recommend taking a look at Sony’s website for a comparison of these products.
