The only

I have no other terms for these types of characters in our lives, except: The One.

Well, The One is not your supernumerary character who goes through your life without you realizing it. In fact, The One is such a powerful brand in your life that you can only call it on a pedestal that no one can match. For whatever reason like a fight, distance, time, or even no why, he doesn’t really stick around in your life to be there forever. And yet, you know, he’s the one.

Nor can I consider The One to be better than who you are with now. In fact, it can even qualify as an ugly duckling. And yet when he made his cameo in your life, they took you to heights beyond your wildest imagination. And there is a firm belief that no one will be able to take you there again.

If you’ve seen John Cusack’s movie Serendipity, somewhere in 42 minutes and 28 seconds (just kidding, I really don’t know the exact time period), it said something about wanting to see Godfather the original, even if Godfather Part II was better. ! Well, it’s a bit like that with regards to one’s attraction to The One. Although you are happier with who you are in the present moment, there seemed to be that unconscious attachment and affection for The One.

Is it possible to finish with The One?

I don’t know if I got the whole story right or just conjured the whole thing up, but I think my friend Percy said, studies show that people don’t really end up with their The One. The ratio would be 2: 100 for the odds that you and the One may live happily ever after.

I have my own experience with The One. His name is the male counterpart to mine. We were seatmates and we became friends. But somewhere along the way, we parted ways. We are both probably happier now in our current lives. And yet the persistent awareness remains on my part, he is the one.

In some way, I would like to enjoy the feeling of having someone in your life that fills your heart with sadness and happiness. Call me crazy, but I often associate real joy when I cry and smile at the same time. And this, I think, sums up what I call the one.

Do you have your own experience with The One? I would love to hear from you.
