Travel tips: dos and don’ts at the airport

If you are planning to travel, chances are that if it is for pleasure, you will want to bring a film filled with wonderful photographs that you have taken of the local cultures and customs of the place you have visited. However, it is important to keep the following in mind with undeveloped films.

The screening machine at the airport security station will likely damage any undeveloped film you have in your luggage. The way you want to avoid this is by putting all of these undeveloped films in your personal carry-on. For this you can request that security apply a manual inspection so as not to damage your equipment.

Consider putting your important items in carry-on luggage. Be sure to label everything with your name and address so nothing gets lost along the way in case there is a mix-up. Be sure to check beforehand to make sure you are familiar with your local airport’s policies regarding what you can and cannot carry and in what quantities if you are unsure.

For example, in many cases, you may limit yourself to just using a tote bag and also a personal item. Check back with your local airport representative to find out what constitutes a personal item, etc.

When in doubt, always ask a representative what is acceptable and what is not based on their policies. Doing this before heading to the airport will save you a lot of time and possible frustration, especially if you plan to travel during rush hours.
