Macallan 60 Year Old Red Collection

For whisky enthusiasts, a visit to the Macallan distillery is a must-do. Not only is it a great way to taste the newest releases, but it also means a chance to explore the heritage of this famous brand. Today, The Macallan offers six unique and age-old expressions, including two 60-year-old bottlings.

The red collection is aged in European oak casks. The name is symbolic: the Macallan is named after Alexander Reid, whose surname means “red”. Reid was nicknamed “the Red” because of his red hair and ruddy face.

In 1824, the Macallan 60 year Old Red Collection distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, whose surname means “The Red One”. The Macallan Red Collection will be available at Harrods, The Whisky Exchange, and other specialist retailers in October 2020. The price of a bottle will be upwards of 200,000 pounds.

The Red Collection is the pinnacle of the Macallan’s portfolio. This whisky has been aged in the world’s oldest casks, making it a unique product. However, it is available only in limited quantities worldwide. If you’re looking for a truly unique, age-worthy Macallan, this is the one for you!

In addition to the unique red colour of this whisky, its distinctive flavours are attributed to its oak casks. The Macallan Master of Wood sources the best oak barrels and then toasts and seasons them, allowing them to develop a special character.

For the first time, a limited edition 60-year-old Macallan was created, in a collaboration with pop artist Sir Peter Blake. This was the first of three artistic collaborations between the Macallan and Blake. The 60-year-old sold for PS751,703 ($1.04m) in Hong Kong.

As part of the Red Collection, the Macallan has released several vintages of this iconic whisky. These include The Macallan Macaron, which has a sweet ginger-sponge aroma and rich vanilla flavours. The Macaron whisky has a high ABV (42.6%), and Sarah Burgess has chosen this particular whisky for its rich, complex flavor.
