Basketball through the years

My older brothers first introduced me to the game of basketball since I was 9 years old. My older brother taught me the basics of basketball, how to dribble and shoot. He was a talented basketball player; he even joined barangay basketball leagues and won some MVP awards. He always watched his games and that made me more interested in the game.

It was the year 1996 where the Chicago Bulls of the NBA reign with Michael Jordan on the team. That was the time when I watched most of his games. He made me practice more so that I could become a great basketball player like Michael Jordan. Unfortunately, I’m not that good or athletic enough to be just a basketball player. I’ve also joined some of the barangay leagues, but I’m one of the guys on the bench. Although I am not a good basketball player, I still love the game of basketball.

I watched Michael Jordan’s last three NBA championship games and was also delighted to know that my basketball idol won. After Michael Jordan’s last season in the NBA, I stopped seeing him and just played a few basketball games in my neighborhood. After a few years of waiting for another NBA superstar who can renew my interest in the NBA. A few years later, Michael Jordan announced his return to the NBA in a new team, the Washington Wizards. He only played two seasons with the Wizards and he played at a late age, but he’s still a good player, just not like the way he played in the 90s. After those two seasons he announced his 3rd retirement from the NBA.

After a few years, a new NBA superstar emerges by the name of Lebron James. He was a Cleveland Cavaliers player with number 23 like my NBA idol Michael Jordan. Even though he wasn’t like Michael Jordan, he’s still a lot of fun to watch. Lebron James is excellent at both ends of the court and he is also a selfless player. He leads his team to the playoffs and NBA finals and has won a few NBA MVP awards. Even if he transferred to the Miami Heat, I still watched his games. He won another MVP award in the 2011-2012 season and won his first NBA Finals MVP award with the NBA champion Miami Heat.

Until now I still watch the NBA and I will always love the game of basketball.
