Can social media erode real relationships?

Although social media is very helpful most of the time, it can also create a huge void in a relationship. But how do you define a real relationship? In the opinion of many people, a real relationship implies respect, love, communication, passion and dedication.

Unfortunately, yes, social media can break even the most difficult relationships. These are some of the mistakes you can make on social media that will lead to your breakup:

  • Having a relationship on social media more than in real life. – you keep posting cute things on their timeline, you share pictures with deep thoughts written on them, but in real life you hardly speak. Not to mention that you fight a lot and have absolutely no respect for her when you argue. Or maybe your attention for her is only on social media. This is a mistake that can ruin your relationship.
  • You exceed – As long as you don’t know how your partner feels about you signing up every time you go out or posting photos about your activities together, I’d say you don’t. Sharing too much personal information about your partner can erode your relationship, especially if your partner is more of a private person.
  • Don’t be sneaky – I am not suggesting that your partner knows the password for every account you have. But if you are used to pushing away the computer screen or the phone screen when your girlfriend tries to reach the peak, you will appear guilty of several things. And yes, you may be innocent, but innocent people don’t feel the need to hide their social media accounts.
  • Talk to other people – I understand the concept of friendship, but at the same time, one thing is to be friendly and another completely different to be flirtatious. There is a line between these two and you must be very careful not to cross it. It won’t do your relationship any good.
  • Stay in touch with your ex – you stumbled upon his profile, looked at his photos and the next thing you know, you started chatting. You know that’s wrong, but you deny it in your head, telling yourself that all people do it at some point in their lives. And when your partner suggests that this conversation stop, you take offense. If this scenario sounds familiar to you, let me inform you that this action could erode your relationship.

Real relationships are built on trust and communication. You can’t trust a person who hides their phone or turns their desk away from you and definitely not a person who still keeps in touch with their ex. At the same time, communication is an open and sincere act and you cannot be honest with your loved one if you are hiding things. Not all relationships are created equal, but most of them can be eroded by social media if the couple makes some of the mistakes presented above.
