Cheap car insurance for young drivers: more tips for teens on how to reduce rates

In my first article, I discussed some general tips on how teens can lower their car insurance rates. Now let’s get into more specific things you can do to lower your monthly rate payments. I think most kids these days don’t focus enough on what kind of car they want to buy as far as how it affects their car insurance prices. I know when I was a teenager, like most everyone else, I wanted to have the fanciest car with the most horsepower to impress my friends and everyone else in my school.

My first car was a Honda Prelude that had a computer chip to make it even faster. It was a great car that also got all the attention it wanted, but it also earned me a few speeding tickets in my first year of driving. The Prelude, which made my car insurance payments much higher than normal, spiked even higher after those 2 speeding tickets. It was also stolen a few months later, so it was a bad experience altogether. After that, I bought a used Honda Civic that garnered very little attention from the highway patrol. As you can see, a person’s choice of car has a lot of influence on their car insurance rates.

Another factor in getting cheap car insurance for young drivers is whether you have a job and whether you can keep that job for a while. When teens have a good reputation in their workplace, it will also show auto insurance companies that they are mature enough not to make bad decisions down the road.

If you have a part-time job and have held it for at least 6 months or more, your level of risk starts to drop. Insurance companies want someone who is a low burden to them in terms of their lifestyle and reputation in the workplace. If you really want to lower your insurance rates, simply volunteer for a worthy cause. This is yet another factor that shows that he is maturing as a person and cares about the safety of others, which also means that he cares about the safety of his fellow drivers while driving on the road.
