Four time-tested and proven methods to keep the extra pounds off

Most people who really have an interest in losing weight start with a drastic reduction in their calorie intake, along with a list of foods that are basically forbidden. Despite your good intentions, it actually results in a lowering of your metabolism and also creates cravings. The result is that the body stores more fat and eventually the cravings become too strong to ignore, causing people to abruptly abandon their diet.

This often creates a strong sense of frustration and failure, because people feel that they have not reached their own goals. Each time these individuals begin the same old process, determined not to fail, but ultimately doomed to fail. This is also called a yo-yo diet, and it’s something millions of people do despite the failure rate of over 90%.

The following four tips are provided in the hope that they will help you achieve lasting weight loss.

1. Every detail you do counts:

• If you want to get in shape, exercise is an important component and does not require hours in the gym.

• Something as easy as walking around your neighborhood or squatting and pouncing while jogging or walking can make a big difference.

2. Change your whole mindset:

• Develop and stay very positive about your own program to lose weight and improve your overall health. This will increase all your chances of success.

• Time and time again, mind and body have been shown to work together.

• If you tell yourself that exercise is a terrible thing that you would rather not do, then your whole body probably agrees with your mind and you don’t enjoy exercising.

• Also, if you constantly think about your excess weight, you will feel desperate, making the task of losing weight that much more difficult.

• Positive affirmation is something that many people find helpful.

• Whenever you exercise, be sure to remember how good it is for you and all the benefits you are receiving.

3. Find your own inspiration that works:

• Whatever your reasons for wanting to be fitter, you will do better if you have some form of personal inspiration, such as being able to spend more time with your children.

• Everyone will have a different style of inspiration.

• As an example, some people may have a particular role model or visual image that they want to emulate.

4. Get help from the professionals:

• The entire nutrition and fitness process can be overwhelming at times.

• You can use online resources or, better yet, hire a fitness trainer.

• Specifically, you want someone who is knowledgeable about exercise and nutrition and who can provide you with an effective exercise program that will make sure you stick to it.
