It is independently owned and luxurious with great historical character and all the amenities you would expect from 5 star accommodation with a swimming pool, leisure center and two restaurants (one with a Michelin star). He is discreetly discreet, friendly and calm.

The Four Seasons is in Dublin, but it’s a bit further out.

BUSINESS/LUXURY HOTELS: The Radisson/Westin and Conrad hotels are represented in the city centre, but our advice is to choose between the Fitzwilliam, a beautiful 5-star hotel overlooking St Stephen’s Green or the good quality Alexander Hotel /St Stephens Green – hotels for business visitors. They know what they are doing. The grand old dame of Dublin hotels on O’Connell Street – the Gresham is an iconic 4-star hotel. Or watch out for Brooks, a small boutique hotel tucked away in the heart of the city. Small and with a fabulous reception, it was Hotel of the Year in 2008.

GOOD QUALITY HOTELS: If you are looking for great prices and comprehensive facilities, the Camden Court Hotel is a good 3-star candidate. It has a leisure center and free parking.

The recently refurbished Ashling Hotel overlooking the River Liffey is receiving good reviews. It is family owned, but it is a large hotel with car parking on site. Cassidys Hotel is a first class 3 star hotel at the top of O’Connell Street which we also recommend. It has great comfort, character and very affordable prices.

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL – Jurys and Maldron hotels are well-known chain brands in Ireland, while Harcourt Hotel consistently offers good hotel accommodation at a low price. The two and three star markets are represented by a large number of small, old-style hotels. For those who want to be close to the heart of the action, the Arlington Temple Bar and Arlington Hotel are well located near Temple Bar.
