Mother’s Day Projects That Can Go Wrong: What You Really Should Be Doing For Your Mom This Year

Some Mother’s Day gifts can go terribly wrong if you’re a first-timer. You may feel compelled to try many things to surprise your mother, such as knitting, cooking, crafts and even cleaning, but Mother’s Day is not a time to get into your creative side, it is something that requires some effort. internship and a three-week notice. . I tried to complete three major projects for my mom’s mother’s day gift and they were embarrassing disasters to say the least and I think it’s only fair that people learn from my mistakes.

project one; Disaster One: Knitting a Sweater for Mom
I actually found this filed under Christmas gifts for mom somewhere and decided to give it a try. I downloaded a pattern from somewhere that involved crochet and got to work. The problem; May is not a good time to knit something for mom and crocheting is serious business, just like knowing a crochet hook exists. My mom was kind enough not to laugh as soon as she saw it. I thought the clothes would be a good idea, but it bombed as much as Hiroshima. Knitting is out of the question unless you have at least three or four beautiful sweaters that are fit to wear in public, you don’t want to make any clothes for your mom. I personally am against buying mom clothes on mother’s day and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. When we shop for clothes for our moms, we rarely see them as anything other than moms and are likely to buy them comfortable oversized clothes that don’t say ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ in its true spirit. And there is also the risk of getting the wrong size. I have never tried to buy my mom clothes because she has her own unique taste.

Project Two; Disaster Two: Kitchen Remodel
My husband had suggested that we both buy Mother’s Day gift baskets for our moms (my mom and mother-in-law), but I decided it would be best to collaborate with my brother and help remodel the kitchen. It turned out my brother was just going to finance it and my husband and I ended up doing the actual remodeling. Mom couldn’t use the kitchen for a whole month and we had to call in a professional plumber to fix the many leaks. My mother-in-law was perfectly happy and content with the Mother’s Day gift baskets that my husband, sister and law had sent her. Home remodeling is too large a project to complete in a tight time frame; you can’t surprise anyone with a gift like that and you need to have a certain degree of experience to pull it off.

project three; Disaster three: listen to her husband and buy her a technological gift
My husband insisted that since my last idea for a mother’s day gift had failed, we’re going with his idea this time. I had to agree as his mom loved the mother’s day gift baskets she had received. It was scientific proof that my husband could choose good gifts for Mother’s Day. He suggested we get him a pair of glow-in-the-dark slippers because he gets up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water and often trips over things because it’s dark. He was absolutely crazy, but he had the website suggesting it in front of me, so I went with the flow. Mom took one look at it and said it matched the squeaky light-up shoes he bought me for my third birthday. Mom hated it! Tech items don’t make good Mother’s Day gifts no matter what you do.

I have found a better way to make mom happy in mom, ‘consistency’. I alternate with mother’s day fruit baskets and mother’s day fruit bouquets and she always loves them. The bottom line is, don’t knit a sweater or build a kitchen for your mom if you haven’t already! Buy a simple Mother’s Day gift for your mom that she can enjoy. When she buys you a food-themed gift like fruit bouquets, even though she’ll eat it and finish it, she’ll enjoy it. There won’t be a lasting memory to make that day memorable, but it will still be very enjoyable and that’s the point.
