Soup is a liquid form of food that is usually served at the beginning of a meal. Soups can be both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The common ingredients of a vegetarian soup are water and vegetables. The vegetables are boiled until the desired flavor is obtained. In non-vegetarian soups, egg, meat, chicken, shrimp, or other seafood can be added. Some soups are light and simple, while others have a distinctive tangy and spicy flavor. Thanks to the myriad of options available, almost anyone can find soups that perfectly suit their taste buds. It can be consumed before the main course or as a snack. It is best enjoyed with crusty breadsticks.

Some of the most common types of soups are:

CLEAR SOUPS

They are made of clean and transparent material. One of the most popular types of clear soup is broth.

THICK SOUPS

They are made from broth, cream, and water. You can also add chicken, egg, lentils, and meat. They have a thick consistency and due care must be taken when cooking them. Soups that are too thick tend to lose their flavor.

Thick soups are of different types. Some of them are:

Broths: They are mostly thick in consistency and are made with vegetables, clear broth, and rice. Since they are made from rice, they are also very filling.

Purees: Vegetables, lentils or meat are boiled and then mashed to create the puree. Some of the vegetables that are used to make purees are potatoes, peas, beets, and peas. Starch is required when pureed meat is to be prepared.

FRUIT SOUPS

Fruit soups can be hot or cold, depending on the fruit used. Cold soups are great for summer. Dried fruits such as raisins and dates, cream, and alcohol can be used in these soups. Cold soups are mostly common in Scandinavian nations and the countries of Middle and Eastern Europe.

BORSCHT: It was first prepared in Ukraine. The main ingredients used in this soup are tomato and beetroot, or just beetroot. Borscht can be both hot and cold:

Hot borscht: This is the most common form of this soup. It is part of the main course of the meal. It is made with potato, meat, carrot, beef or pork and starch.

Cold borscht: To make this soup, beets are boiled. After it cools down, yogurt, eggs, sour cream, cucumber, parsley, and radish are added to get the desired flavor.

AJIACO: It is a potato soup that contains chicken, cream, avocado and guasca, an American herb. This soup has its origin in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia.

TUSCAN BEAN SOUP: Some necessary ingredients to prepare the delicious Tuscan bean soup are cranberries or pinto beans, extra virgin olive oil, cloves, garlic, chicken broth, rosemary, bell pepper, carrot and onion. As the name suggests, this soup was first made in Tuscany, Italy.
