What is digital design and how is it changing with today’s technology?

In today’s world everything is going digital. Communication is becoming Digital Communication, advertising is now Digital Advertising. So with these changes, the meaning and definition of design has also changed and is now known as Digital Design.

Now do not be confused by this word.

The simple meaning of this is that any design made on a digital platform is known as a Digital Design. In the early days people used to draw by hand on paper/books but now the same things are drawn by hand but the difference is now we use a stylus instead of a pen, we have tabs, screens to draw instead of paper. We fill in color in our artwork, but not with watercolors or paint colors, but digitally in software like Photoshop, Illustrator, digital painting tools, etc. Earlier we used to have different types of brushes to paint, hard, soft, thin, thick, round, square, etc., but now we only have one stylus and rest adjustments can be easily done in the software itself.

Digital design is not just limited to digital painting, but includes all other forms of design:

1. Graphic design: Graphic design was known as flat design. The images we see on a page advertisements about other things and everything, business cards, brochures, pamphlets, etc. But now with the introduction of Digital, even the definition of graphic design has also changed. New age graphic design is breaking all the stereotypes of flat image designs.

2. 3D Design: Any object that is created in 3D software is called a 3D design. These objects are processed for viewing or use outside of the software. These images have a depth that differentiates them from flat images or graphic designs. With the introduction of 3D printers, this field is also becoming infinite; unlimited number of opportunities and work.

3. Video production/editing: Video production is also a form of digital design. You create a whole video with your own creativity and present it in the form of a video. Videos are just images that play every second.

4. Motion graphics: Branch of video production but full of 3D movement. So this combines graphics and 3D work.

5. Architectural Design: A branch of 3D but in architectural form. The construction plans you see on the pages are created in 3D with the help of various 3D software that provide realistic results. This field is not just limited to images but has now been extended to videos and even VR.

6. Product design: Product design is a combined form of graphic and 3D because first the product is designed in the form of a sketch or digital art and then in 3D, thus this field is created after the introduction of digital design .

7. Package Design: How things will be packaged and delivered to customers, this is what is done in package design. This is the file that emerged from the graphic design.

So the list goes on and on without ever ending. As the world is going digital, more opportunities are increasing every day.
