Easter: Make it perfect!

Leave a trace of rabbit footprint

Do you have baking soda, flour, or baby powder in the house? You sure do! Put it to creative use by making a rabbit track trail out of it. Rub your thumb in one of these ingredients and use it to score the center of the rabbit’s foot. Then use your little finger to create three fingers at the top of the paw. Repeat until you have a series of footprints, creating a direct path to your child’s Easter basket! And don’t worry, if you use flour or baking soda, it will clean up with a vacuum or wipe.

Use a beanbag as a basket

Easter can be a time to receive fun little gifts in addition to chocolates and candy. While many kids get a new outfit for church or a picnic on Easter Sunday, more and more parents are looking for options that can get much more use than a fancy dress or suit. One of those options is the latest trend in child seats: the bean bag. Instead of a basket, consider using a brightly colored beanbag as the “basket” for your kids’ Easter treats. This way, your little one gets the treats she wants along with a gift she can use a lot for the rest of the year. Using your toddler seat in a baby bean bag and placing a beautiful bunch of different sized and colored Easter eggs in it is an amazing alternative to the traditional “Easter basket”. And it comes in handy after the eggs have been eaten and finished!

Include books, crafts and more in one basket

A basket or bean bag doesn’t have to be filled with just disposable treats. Consider using things that have a longer (and better!) impact on a child. You can include a book with a favorite character, a sketch pad and crayon set, or even a craft set. Make the Easter basket something that provides weeks of enjoyment and not just a bunch of sugar that runs out in a few days!

Easter can be a great time of year for children. With a little outside thinking on your part, the impact of this holiday can extend far beyond a little chocolate and a sugar rush. Try these ideas and dream up some of your own creative approaches to this holiday.
