The ISEE scoring system

The way the ISEE score is determined is by awarding one point for each correct answer. Wrong answers are not penalized, so the questions you answered correctly are known as your ‘Raw Score’. This would be improved to a ‘scaled score’ simply by using the specific test tables that have been created for the task.

When you get an exam statement, it will incorporate test scores along with other diagnostic details. Parents and schools will receive them approximately two weeks after the test. Therefore, all schools you enter on your ISEE registration form will get copies of your dissertation in addition to a score statement for your exam.

Most private schools use the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) to assess the potential of students applying to their institutions. Only those students with the best score in the test will be considered. At a few schools, only one in five students who apply are admitted. Therefore it is essential that your child acquires a good level of score on this test. The test contains five segments: quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, achievement, mathematics, and an essay. There are only thirty minutes allotted for the rehearsal.

Here are some suggested preparation procedures for a good ISSE score:

  • Acquiring practice tests is one of the most effective study methods for this test. You can find the tests in the ISEE guides or online internet sites. Your child will not only get a feel for what the test feels like, but will also be able to see the complexity of the questions. Therefore, it will not be a shock in the day and it will turn them into a nervous wreck.
  • Have your child take some practice tests within the time limits and this will point out their weaknesses and give them a chance to focus their study efforts on fixing them up. The test itself will take about two hours.
  • A lot of arithmetic practice is needed because calculators are not allowed during the test.
  • Have a complete understanding of the three test levels. The first and lowest levels are intended for those entering the 5th or 6th grade, the middle level is for those intending to enter the 7th or 8th, and the last is for those entering the 9th-12th grade.
  • Calculate the different segments in the ISEE. Some multiple choice segments include quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, reading knowledge, and mathematical knowledge. There is also an essay section.
  • Find out how the ISSE score is constructed. The essay is not graded, but is submitted to the prospective institution for evaluation. The test does not have a precise pass or fail score. Each school determines who will be accepted from the results.

The number of correct answers is evaluated without deductions for incorrect answers. The raw ISSE score is converted to a scaled score to modify distinctions on test forms. Good luck.
