Sprint Cell Phone Carrier Review

I used to work for Sprint about 8 years ago. So they have changed a lot since then. Back then, customer service was the last to die, but now I hear they are # 1 for customer service. I rarely call them for help. But the times I have are useful.

Coverage has been good, there are some weak / dead areas. For example, about the capitol area. Bountiful also has some weak spots along the mountains. But other than those main areas, it has been good. I only use my phone for voice and some text messages. So I can’t comment on the speed and availability of the data.

Plans as far as the price, it is good. I still think that cell phone plans are generally overpriced.

[Update]

I just got a Palm Pre and the internet is really very fast. I’ve seen a side-by-side comparison with the iPhone and Android G1 and the Preloaded first each time. Also one reviewer said it has better reception than other Sprint phones that he has also reviewed.

So far I have loved my Palm Pre, I have no regrets. The reception is better than my last phone. Apps are popping up steadily since launch. GPS works great on it. The keyboard is also very easy to use.

The plan I have with my Pre is great. It’s 450 unlimited minutes for ANY mobile phone, regardless of the operator. Much better than the calling circles the other operators boast about. It also has unlimited data, gps, roaming, nights starting at 7 pm. It really is an amazing plan.

The main area of cell phone coverage is Salt Lake City, Utah.
